Susuki Dukakuhi Akonzuka haiku monument

Stroll along the historical road, Nagasaki Kaido. Prefecturally designated tangible cultural property

This is a haiku inscription by Kyorai Mukai (1651-1704), with the front saying, ``You or your hand will also be a success, Naruheshika Usukorai,'' and the back, ``Tenmei Shiko-Tatsu, March XNUMX, auspicious day of the plan. It is engraved with ``Togakuken''.

Kyorai (name: Kanetoki, character: Motobuchi, popular name: Heijiro) was born in Gokozen-cho, Nagasaki (currently within the premises of the Nagasaki City Library) as the second son of Confucian physician Motomasu Mukai.

At the age of eight, he moved to Kyoto with his father, and in his mid-thirties became a disciple of Basho, and was called one of the Ten Philosophers of Shomon.

It was also Kirara who briefly returned to his hometown in 2 and introduced Shofu-style haiku to Nagasaki.

This haiku monument was erected by his disciples in Nagasaki in 4 to commemorate the haiku he wrote to the people who saw him off when he left Nagasaki.

Due to the construction of the expressway, it was moved from the location shown in the photo in 13 to the Himi Pass side, and its classification was changed from a prefecturally designated historic site to a prefecturally designated tangible cultural property.
