Heiwa Monyumen and Genbaku Kyuenresha Peace Monument (Atomic Bomb Relief Train: Nagayo Station)

We hope that the devastation caused by nuclear weapons will never be repeated again.

The Atomic Bomb Relief Trains are a total of four trains that departed from what is now JR Nagayo Station immediately after the atomic bomb was dropped on August 1945, 20.

The first relief train departed just after noon after the Ministry of Transport's Moji Railway Management Bureau, Director Saki Management Department, made an operation plan.

It became difficult for the relief train to proceed any further near Shoenji Temple, located between Michinoo Station and Urakami Station, about 1.4 km from the hypocenter, so the train collected the injured there and headed toward Isahaya. I did.

On August 9th, four relief trains were operated, including the inbound train affected by the disaster at Nagayo Station, which operated as the last relief train on the 8th, and approximately 9 injured people were transported to Isahaya, Omura, and Kawatana stations. He was taken to a naval hospital.

This pair of wheels, approximately 1.8 meters in diameter, was installed to convey to future generations the use of the train for peace education and the role of the atomic bomb relief train, as well as in the hope that such a disaster would never be repeated.
