Inori's Welcome Book Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum
A hill with a connection to the history of picture books
Nagasaki City's Minami-Yamate Hill, where the national treasure Oura Cathedral and Glover Garden are located, was the only place in Japan to have exchanges with Western Europe during the Meiji Restoration (19th century). It's in the UK.
The ``Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum'' is located on such a historically connected hill, and is a Western-style building unique to Nagasaki at the time, with roof tiles in a Western style.
The first floor is a children's book store and fairy tale hall with approximately 4,000 picture books and 10,000 books for children.
The second and third floors are the museum floors.
The museum holds a permanent exhibition of original illustrations from domestic and international picture books in its collection, as well as special exhibitions.
In addition, in a corner of the third floor, there is a corner with approximately 500 carefully selected picture books that visitors can freely enjoy.
In the gathering corner next to the picture book corner, small concerts and other events are held to convey the importance of picture books.
