Nishiyama Jinja's Zabonoki Pomelo tree at Nishiyama Shrine

Pomelo tree with head-sized fruit

In 7, the captain of a Chinese ship brought pomelo seeds from Java to Ro Sousetsu, who was the head of the Nagasaki Cathedral and also an interpreter for the Tang Dynasty, who built this shrine.・The pomelo tree was born when Shu Jiuniang gave it to him and sowed the seeds in the shrine grounds, where they grew beautifully.

The seeds of this original tree were sown all over the place, and it is now produced not only in the Nagasaki area, but also in the Shimabara Peninsula and Kagoshima regions.

This pomelo tree is a third generation tree with branches behind the house. In addition, there is a fourth-generation main tree in front of this house.
