Nagasaki Shikoshi Shinshiryokan Nagasaki City Old Photo Museum/Archaeological Museum
Seven Western-style houses built in the latter half of the 20s have been restored, and three of them are used as an old photo museum and one as an archives museum.
Of the ``Higashiyamate Western-style housing group (seven buildings)'' designated by the city as a tangible cultural property, three buildings are used as an old photo museum and one building is used as a buried archive museum.
The building has a simple interior and exterior design and finish, and it is presumed that it was built as company housing or rental housing during the settlement period. The fact that such housing remains as a group remains is unique and valuable nationwide. It's something. (Constructed in the middle of the Meiji period)
The Old Photo Museum exhibits 147 old photos on 90 panels that clearly represent the characteristics of foreign settlements and urban areas in Nagasaki from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. Introducing the achievements of ``Hikoma Ueno'' and the history of photography in Japan.
In addition, the Buried Museum exhibits buried materials from the Edo period that were excavated from early modern ruins such as Kozen-cho and Manzai-cho in Nagasaki City.
