It is located right next to Kurosaki Catholic Church, about 202 minutes north from Nagasaki Station on National Route 50.
This facility was opened by the Sotome Culture Enthusiast, made up of residents of the Sotome area, to display the results of their research into hidden Christians in the Sotome area.
It preserves and displays the Maria Kannon statue handed down by the descendants of Hidden Christians, as well as crosses and rosaries that are said to have been distributed by the Paris Foreign Mission Society during the re-missionary period. Also on display are valuable materials that have been passed down from generation to generation in the Sotome area, including the words of prayer, the Orasho, and the Bastian calendar, which is based on the church calendar of 1634. The facility uses various panels to provide easy-to-understand explanations and convey the uniqueness and value of the religious and cultural traditions of the Hidden Christians.
The area is dotted with Christian-related attractions such as Kurosaki Church and Karematsu Shrine, as well as Kashiwagi Shrine and Kurosaki Tenmangu Shrine.
