Oura Tenbou Koen Oura Observatory Park

Ideal for a rest spot while sightseeing in the settlement ruins

``Kinenzaka,'' which was the filming location for the movie ``Kaika'' and was loved by Shusaku Endo, retains the atmosphere of a typical Minami-Yamate settlement.
At the end of the narrow slope next to Oura Cathedral, you will find Oura Observation Park.
From the park, you can see the Higashi-Yamate townscape, including Western-style houses and the Confucius Temple, as well as Nagasaki Port.
Oura Observation Park is lit up at night. The beautiful night view of Nagasaki, one of the world's three most beautiful cities, can be seen below.
If you are confident in your legs, try going down the very steep 45 degree slope on the side of the park.
As you go down this slope that continues to Ishibashi tram stop, the last stop of the tram, it seems as if the townscape of Higashi-Yamate is approaching you.
Near the end of the slope, there is a sign that says ``Aioi Jigokuzaka - Physical Strength Building Slope (223 Steps) 100kcal (70kcal uphill, 30kcal downhill)''! Before "Glover Sky Road" opened, it was a community road used by residents in the surrounding area. You can experience life on the slopes of Nagasaki.

There is a very steep downhill slope on the side of this park. You will arrive at Ishibashi tram stop, the last stop of the tram.
This slope, which seems to have an inclination of 45 degrees, seems to bring the townscape of Higashi Yamate closer to you every time you go down. Before "Glover Sky Road" opened, all the residents in the surrounding area used this slope, and it was truly a road for people's daily lives.
Near the end of the slope, there is a display board like this.
``Aioi Jigokuzaka - Physical fitness building slope (223 steps) 100kcal (uphill: 70kcal, downhill: 30kcal)'' If you are confident in your legs and arms, please come down this slope where you can experience life on the slopes of Nagasaki.
