Nagasaki Peace Museum Nagasaki Peace Museum
A gateway to the world from Nagasaki to help realize a “peaceful earth”
The museum was established by Nagasaki-born singer Masashi Sada, who called for ``creating a peace museum in Nagasaki,'' with donations collected from all over the country.
With the honorary director of the museum, graphic designer Yasuharu Harada, the museum focuses on disseminating peace information and building peace networks, thinking not only about ``opposition to war,'' but also about issues that occur in our daily lives, such as human rights, discrimination, the environment, and culture. We work together with volunteers from all over the country to achieve this goal.
Maps of conflict areas around the world, literature on peace and war, and photographs of children around the world are always on display. We hold exhibitions and concerts that are open to the public both domestically and internationally, and the best part is that anyone can participate for free.
In addition, the stained glass inside the museum depicts a peaceful star somewhere in the night sky, with a dove, the symbol of peace, flying toward the star.
While conveying the current state of the world, through beautiful nature, smiles, music, etc., we are conducting a campaign to help children think about the first step toward peace so that they can live with smiles on their faces.
