Ogawa Hataten “Nagasaki Hatashiryokan” Ogawa grouper store “Nagasaki grouper museum”

Kite museum, a popular annual event

In Nagasaki, kites are called Hata. The Ogawa Hata store is a museum that displays tools for Hata-zukuri, which has been passed down as a traditional craft, and also has a workshop where you can observe the production process, which is all done by hand.
The Eight Views of the Tang Dynasty: Wind Head, Mt. Inasa, Mt. Konpira. Deep-fried grouper is still a big event held in the mountains surrounding Nagasaki city in spring and autumn.
The real thrill is not only competing to fly the fish as high as possible, but also playing with other groupers using vidoroyoma (thread), which is made by coating glass powder on linen thread, and cutting the opponent's grouper. If anything, it can be said that it is a game that adults are more interested in than children. If you look at the old men participating, you'll see that they're old enough to drop two or three groupers with ease, so it's a fun event just to watch.
Nagasaki kites (Nagasakihata) and Vidoroyoma are designated as traditional crafts by Nagasaki Prefecture.
