Taki no Kannon Kannon at the waterfall

Prefecturally designated scenic spot

A Zendo was built in 1660 by Tetsugan, a disciple of Obaku Mokuan, and legend has it that Kukai wrote the Sanskrit character of Kannon on the cliff of the waterfall during the Heian period. This is said to be the first waterfall Kannon.
In 1667 (Kanbun 7th year), the main hall was donated by the wealthy Chinese monk Xu Deng, and the main image, the Gyoran Kannon statue, was also donated by him from China. Shigeteru Isahaya, a feudal lord who loved and worshiped this land, donated the area's forest to the temple. There is a waterfall behind the warehouse, and exotic stone statues are placed here and there, making it a scenic spot where writers and artists drew their canes in ancient times.

Although it suffered damage during the Great Nagasaki Flood in July 1982, including the collapse of cliffs and the washing away of stone bridges, it was restored five years later thanks to the efforts of those involved.

The soothing sound of the waterfall in the silence surrounded by trees will make you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while.
