Ryoma's boots Ryoma's Boots Statue
Put on your boots, put your hands on the helm, and experience what it feels like to be Ryoma or Kaientai!
Big boots suddenly appeared in a space with an open view just a short walk from Kameyama Shrine! These bronze ``Ryoma Boots'' were built in 130 at the request of the citizens' group ``Kameyamasha Junior High School Utilization Association'' to commemorate the 1995th anniversary of the founding of Kameyamasha Junior High School. It is a type object.
The maker of this statue is Kazukuni Yamazaki, who is also from Nagasaki and is responsible for the statue of Sakamoto Ryoma that stands in Kazegashira Park. Since the establishment of Kameyama Shachu was the first step in the modernization of our country, Ryoma chose Ryoma's trademark boots with the hope of helping people understand Nagasaki's history and culture more deeply.
The view of Nagasaki Port and the cityscape of Nagasaki from Pocket Park is so spectacular that it won the Nagasaki Urban Landscape Award, making it a popular photo spot! You can put your feet in the boots even with your shoes on, so why not feel like Ryoma while holding the steering wheel of a ship?
There are also things related to Ryoma scattered around the area, such as the Kameyama Shrine Ruins, Wakamiya Inari Shrine, and the Sakamoto Ryoma Statue. The slope with stone steps that runs from Teramachi Street between Zenrin-ji Temple and Jinso-ji Temple, passing through the ruins of Kameyama Shrine to Kazagashira Park, is called ``Ryoma Street'' and is a historical exploration route in Nagasaki City.
