Nagasaki City and Nagasaki Prefecture won the runner-up prize at the Location Japan Grand Prize, an award held annually by Location Japan, Japan's only film location information magazine, to honor works that have enlivened the local area that year and regions that have worked hard to host filming locations and revitalize the area afterwards.

The town was recognized for supporting the filming of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea" by contributing to the promotion of tourism across the prefecture and city.
