DMO NAGASAKI (Nagasaki International Tourism and Convention Association) held a forum to share best practices to commemorate the fact that "HSR2024 (8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research)," an international conference that it attracted and hosted together with Nagasaki University, received the "Award for Contribution to Attracting and Hosting International Conferences (Large-Scale Conference Category)" from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
At this forum, seven professionals from various fields took the stage, representing local businesses that supported the international conference from its bid to its hosting. They presented on the behind-the-scenes aspects of actual operation, the process of solving problems, and practical examples of regional collaboration.
The forum featured presentations from the following fields:
• Organizer: LOC (Local Organizing Committee)
• Overall Management PCO (Professional Congress Organizer)
• Travel agency (participant registration, visa support, accommodation, transportation)
• Catering (accommodating diverse dietary needs)
• Welcome reception management
• Exhibiting at a company booth (support for people with disabilities)

In each presentation,Adapting to international standards, considering diverse participants, utilizing local resources, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.Specific examples of initiatives unique to Nagasaki were shared.
In particular, the responses to diverse food cultures, such as halal and vegan options, the division of labor and collaborative system among local businesses, and the integrated efforts of welfare, industry, and tourism were presented as important models for future international conference management.

Expertise from various fields, including universities, DMOs, PCOs, travel agencies, restaurants, event organizers, and local businesses, came together to create a collaborative system that transcended affiliations and positions.
This collaboration has enabled the creation of a system that supports world-class international conferences through a unified regional effort, leading to an enhanced presence of Nagasaki as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) city.
At the conclusion of the forum, the following important directions were shared for attracting and hosting future international conferences.
