2024We are pleased to announce that the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR2024), an international symposium co-hosted by Nagasaki University and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in November 11, has received the 2025 International Conference Attraction and Hosting Contribution Award (Large-scale Conference Category, International Conference Hosting).
This award is presented by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to recognize outstanding efforts that have created a ripple effect on the local area and a lasting legacy through the attraction and hosting of international conferences.

HSR2024 is the world's largest international conference in the field of health systems research, held for five days from November 18th to 22nd, 2024, at the main venue, Dejima Messe Nagasaki, with 1,552 participants from 110 countries and regions.
As the convention promotion organization representing the host city, DMO NAGASAKI (Nagasaki International Tourism and Convention Association, a general incorporated association) has been working with related organizations such as Nagasaki University and local businesses to promote the hosting of international conferences with an awareness of "creating regional value." These efforts were recognized as a cutting-edge model for hosting international conferences in a regional city, leading to this award.

In awarding this award, JNTO highly praised the establishment of an acceptance system that brings together local industry, academia, government and the private sector, as well as the following points:
① Providing a variety of food options, including halal and vegan options, through collaboration between multiple businesses in the city
② Conducting study tours on remote island issues, such as remote medical care using drones
(In collaboration with Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture)
3) Creating opportunities for interaction between participants and local industries and researchers by utilizing local resources
④ Initiatives that emphasize citizen participation, such as holding public lectures in which citizens, including high school students, can participate

Going forward, we will continue to work with Nagasaki University and other partners from industry, academia, government, and the private sector to further strengthen our system for attracting and hosting international conferences, thereby contributing to increasing the presence of Nagasaki MICE and sustainable regional development.
