Mr. Katsumi Tanaka
The 66th General Meeting and Academic Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plastic Surgery was held for three days from Wednesday, April 2023th to Friday, April 4th, 26 at Dejima Messe Nagasaki. Over 28 people were on-site during the event, and over 3 people watched on-demand after the event. It was a very lively academic conference, with over 2200 participants from overseas.
Although the new coronavirus was about to move to Category 5 on May 8th, we continued to prepare and operate with the utmost care to prevent infection. Thanks to you, there were no reports that could be attributed to the new coronavirus during or after the event, and we were blessed with good weather and were able to operate smoothly. In particular, the access to each venue was well received, and we were told that this was the biggest advantage of this venue.

Please tell us about your main initiatives this time.

Mr. Katsumi Tanaka
It was decided about three years ago that this academic conference would be held in Nagasaki. Therefore, the most important consideration was the fact that the Dejima Messe Nagasaki venue had not yet been completed and the situation with the new coronavirus infection. Ultimately, when inviting abstracts for September 3, we focused on holding the conference locally, and at the same time, we visited various academic conferences and considered the possibility of holding the conference in order to attract corporate exhibitions. As a result, in addition to 2022 lecture halls, the event and exhibition hall also held poster and corporate exhibits in 9 booths, making it a place not only for academic exchange but also for exchanging information about the latest medical equipment.
Furthermore, as a place for socializing, we introduced Nagasaki's products in the rest space in the event/exhibition hall during the exhibition period, and after the program on the second day, we held a social gathering for members at Dejima Wharf. . While enjoying Nagasaki food, we entertained the participants with a dragon dance, a strange mask show, and, as a fitting finale to the event, a fireworks display.

Please give a message to those who are planning to invite or hold a conference in Nagasaki in the future.

Mr. Katsumi Tanaka
It was a unique venue that could match the scale and content of the conference, making it an ideal venue for an academic conference. We believe that close cooperation between the organizers, the management office, the Nagasaki International Tourism and Convention Association, and other parties will lead to the success of the event.
