The 29th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Telemedicine and Telehealth was held successfully over two days, October 24th and 25th, 2025, at Dejima Messe Nagasaki. This was the first time the Japanese Society for Telemedicine and Telehealth and Telehealth was held in Nagasaki in 11 years since 2014, and approximately 400 people from all over Japan participated in the conference, which was held in a hybrid format combining on-site attendance and on-demand streaming. Valuable presentations and lively discussions were held on the latest research findings and practical approaches in the field of telemedicine, making it a fulfilling forum for academic exchange.
A total of 131 presentations were given at this conference, including lectures, symposiums, and general presentations, making it a very fruitful experience for participants. In addition, with the support and cooperation of 41 companies, we were able to hold corporate exhibitions and luncheon seminars, further enhancing the overall quality of the conference.
The venue was mainly on the first floor of Dejima Messe Nagasaki, with short routes between venues and little burden on participants to move around, which was highly praised by many. Conference Room 101 was divided into venues (B+C) and (A) by partitions, and these two venues were used for general presentations. For sessions where many participants were expected, such as invited lectures, venue (A) was used as a satellite venue, and as this venue allowed participants to work on their computers while listening to the lectures, more people than initially expected entered the venue.
On the first night of the conference, we rented out part of Dejima Wharf for a social gathering. Over 120 people attended, enjoying dishes made with fresh local ingredients in an open location overlooking Mount Inasa and Nagasaki Port in the refreshing autumn breeze. The event was very well received by participants, and was a valuable opportunity to deepen friendships among them while experiencing the charm of Nagasaki.
We believe that the combination of Dejima Messe Nagasaki, equipped with the latest facilities, and the city of Nagasaki as a whole, steeped in history and culture, greatly contributed to the success of this conference. The program was packed with content until the evening of the second day (Saturday), and many people participated until the very end, with many participants even staying in Nagasaki until the next day.
