The Nakayama Folk Dance Institute, one of the largest folk dance groups in Japan, holds its national convention every other year at branches across the country, but this will be the first time it has been held in Nagasaki in 17 years.
This year, the 40th National Cultural Festival, held for the first time in Nagasaki Prefecture, and the 25th National Arts and Culture Festival for Persons with Disabilities were jointly held as the "Nagasaki Peace Cultural Festival 2025," and this event will be held as part of the regional cultural dissemination project.
In the first half of the event, folk dance groups from each city and town in Nagasaki Prefecture performed, showcasing unique local dances that were well received by people from both inside and outside the prefecture. True to the title "Nakayama Dances in Prayer for Peace," the peace-conscious programs, including "The Bells of Nagasaki" and "Flowers Bloom," also received a positive response.
The event attracted a lot of attention, including being featured in the Nagasaki Shimbun newspaper, and we feel that it was a great success.

The event was co-hosted by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Nagasaki Prefecture, Nagasaki City, and their respective executive committees, and there were many tedious procedures involved in holding the event, such as various communications with the government and submitting documents. However, there were also great benefits, such as exemptions from venue fees and various promotional effects.

We are engaged in cultural promotion activities through Japanese folk dance, and we have many connections with national organizations such as the Japan Folk Dance Federation (a public interest incorporated association) and the All Japan Folk Dance Instructors Federation, so we would appreciate your cooperation again if there is an opportunity to hold a national event in Nagasaki.
