2025 Peace Action in Nagasaki held
~Let's continue to tell the truth about war and continue our movement to achieve nuclear abolition and lasting peace~

<Friday, August 8th (Day 1)>
[2025 Nagasaki Peace Rally, 80 Years Since the Atomic Bombing] 15:30-18:00
　The event was held in the main arena of the Nagasaki Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagasaki City under the slogan "Let's achieve nuclear abolition and lasting peace by continuing to tell the truth about war and our movement," and was co-sponsored by the Japan Congress Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs (Gensuikin) and the National Conference for Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Peace Building (KAKKIN), as well as supported by many organizations including Nagasaki Prefecture, Nagasaki City, Mayors for Peace, and NPOs and NGOs from around the country. A total of 2,054 people participated from affiliated organizations and local federations across the country.
　In her opening remarks, Rengo President Tomoko Yoshino stated, "As we mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, it is becoming increasingly difficult to continue the activities of storytellers who share the tragic experiences and memories of the atomic bombings. I urge everyone to learn about the true nature of the bombings and take it back to their workplaces and homes to share with others. Furthermore, members of the Nagasaki Youth and Women's Committees will serve as peace guides for the Peace Walk to be held on August 9, working to pass this knowledge on to future generations. I urge all participants to learn about the true nature of the bombings and share it with others at their workplaces and homes." She also stated, "More than 12,000 nuclear warheads remain in the world today, and humanity continues to live in a world with nuclear weapons. As the only country to have been bombed in war, I strongly urge the Japanese government to continue its unremitting diplomatic efforts toward realizing a world without nuclear weapons." She reaffirmed her commitment to working toward the abolition of nuclear weapons and the realization of lasting global peace.

<Saturday, August 9th (Day 2)
[Peace Walk] 14:00-16:00
　A "Peace Walk" was held, with 493 participants from around Japan visiting the Atomic Bomb Memorial Cenotaph and Memorial Monuments in Atomic Bomb Hypocenter Park and Peace Park. Members of the Nagasaki Youth Committee and Women's Committee acted as "Peace Guides," helping participants deepen their understanding of the origins of the memorials and memorials, as well as the history of Nagasaki.

The "Manto Nagashi" event, which was scheduled to start at 19 p.m., was canceled due to the rain that had continued since the previous day, and in consideration of the risk of the Urakami River, where the event was to be held, rising water levels and flooding, and to ensure the safety of participants.
