The Japan Association for Welfare of the Severely Physically and Mentally Disabled is aIt is a public interest corporation whose members are facilities where people with multiple disabilities (conditions requiring medical care) can receive treatment and lifestyle support.
Our organization respects the dignity of children and adults with severe physical and mental disabilities, and works to improve their welfare, contributing to the promotion of the welfare of their families and the community, as well as spreading the ideas and results of medical care for severely disabled people. To this end, we conduct activities such as training sessions for facility directors and welfare and medical staff working at facilities for children and adults with severe physical and mental disabilities (mainly medical-type facilities for disabled children and medical care facilities for children and adults with severe physical and mental disabilities), publishing newsletters, conducting field surveys, and holding academic conferences of the Japanese Society for Medical Care and Education. Through these activities, we work to provide appropriate medical care to children and adults in our facilities, and to improve guidance and support for daily life and daytime activities according to their age and condition.
One of these activities is the National Facilities Council, which is chaired by member facilities in each prefecture in turn. Once a year, the council holds lectures and symposiums that address government trends and current social conditions, bringing together facility directors and managers to deepen their knowledge and provide a forum for socializing.
In the 7 fiscal year, we will be hosting the Holy Family Association, a social welfare corporation located in Nagasaki Prefecture.Misakae GardenAyuminoThe event was organized by the Mutsumi House, a comprehensive developmental medical and welfare center run by the same organization, and run by staff from the Isahaya Rehabilitation Center run by the Kosei Social Welfare Corporation. The event was held on May 5nd and 22rd in the large hall on the third floor of Hotel New Nagasaki, with the participation of a total of approximately 23 people from 3 facilities from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
Over the two days, we were able to reexamine the current state of facilities for children and adults with severe physical and mental disabilities and hold intensive discussions about their future. We believe this was also due in part to the support of the Hotel New Nagasaki staff, who have supported large conferences and special events. We will recommend Hotel New Nagasaki as a potential location for those hosting large conferences in the future.
