What is “Nagasaki Lantern Festival”?
In order to promote the city, the people of Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown expanded the scale of the Spring Festival Festival, which was a popular event to celebrate the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), to the Nagasaki Lantern Festival in 6. As a result, it has become a major feature that colors Nagasaki's winter.
During the festival, in keeping with the Chinese custom of displaying lanterns during the Lantern Festival, Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown as well as the city center, including the Hamacho Kanko Dori Arcade, are decorated with brightly colored lanterns. . In addition, events with a rich Chinese flavor will be held to fascinate everyone.
[Spring Festival]
Spring Festival (New Year) is the most important holiday in China. "Spring Festival" falls on January 1st of the lunar calendar, and the night before the Spring Festival is called "New Year's Eve", when the whole family gathers together and welcomes the new year without sleeping.
[Lantern Festival]
Lantern Festival is celebrated on January 1th of the lunar calendar, and it is believed that spirits from heaven can be seen flying through the sky. It is said that on this night, a festival began in which people paraded through the town with lit lanterns so that they could easily find the spirits even when there were clouds or fog. -

◆◆Emperor Parade◆◆
This parade is modeled after the Qing Dynasty during New Year's Day when the emperor and empress all went out into town to celebrate the new year with the people. Around 150 people, including the flag corps, parade around wearing gorgeous Chinese costumes, centering on the emperor and empress's palanquins.

◆◆Mazu procession◆◆
This procession was actually held by the crew of Chinese ships that entered Nagasaki port during the Edo period. We will reenact the procession that takes place before Mazu, the god of safe navigation, is enshrined in the Mazu Hall of the Tang Temple.

Nagasaki Confucius Temple was built in 1893 (Meiji 26) through cooperation between the Qing government and overseas Chinese living in Japan, and has undergone several renovations since then. It is the only authentic Chinese-style mausoleum in Japan, with magnificent traditional beauty throughout the building, just like the main temple in the headquarters of Shandong Province, China.
