Introduction

  • ◆◆Chinese lantern decoration◆◆

    During the period, approximately 1 Chinese lanterns will be displayed in the center of the city, including Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, Hama City, and Kanko Street, and the city of Nagasaki will be illuminated with brightly colored lights. Colored. There are also objects of various sizes, some of which are about 5 meters long.

  • ◆◆Emperor Parade◆◆

    This parade is modeled after the Qing Dynasty during New Year's Day when the emperor and empress all went out into town to celebrate the new year with the people. Around 150 people, including the flag corps, parade around wearing gorgeous Chinese costumes, centering on the emperor and empress's palanquins.

  • ◆◆Mazu procession◆◆

    This procession was actually held by the crew of Chinese ships that entered Nagasaki port during the Edo period. We will reenact the procession that takes place before Mazu, the god of safe navigation, is enshrined in the Mazu Hall of the Tang Temple.

  • ◆Dragon dance◆

    It is said that it originally began in China as a rain ritual to pray for a rich harvest. It depicts a group of dragons wearing Chinese costumes manipulating a dragon body about 20 meters long, trying to make it rain, summon clouds, and swallow the moon.

  • ◆ Nagasaki Confucius Temple ◆

    Nagasaki Confucius Temple was built in 1893 (Meiji 26) through cooperation between the Qing government and overseas Chinese living in Japan, and has undergone several renovations since then. It is the only authentic Chinese-style mausoleum in Japan, with magnificent traditional beauty throughout the building, just like the main temple in the headquarters of Shandong Province, China.
    During the lantern period, you can stroll around the decorated temple grounds and pay your respects at the Taisei Hall for the Lunar New Year.
