A night view spot loved by locals
I love sitting on a bench in Oura Tenbo Park, right in front of Minamiyamate Rest House, and looking out at the city at dusk. Looking at the houses lit up here and there, I'm deeply moved by the fact that Nagasaki's night view, chosen as one of the three best night views in the world, is possible only because of the lives of the people there.
Avoid uphill climbs with the inclined elevator! Discover Nagasaki life and spectacular views at Minamiyamate
After replenishing your supplies with fruit at Shimada Fruit Shop, we headed for a stroll around Minamiyamate, an area full of hidden gems. We avoided the steep stairs and headed up the hill using the Glover Sky Road elevator, a local local service. Minamiyamate Rest House has tourist information and a rest area, and is free to use. Oura Observation Park in front of the rest house is a small but popular spot for locals to relax. There are small benches here, and you can enjoy the scenery typical of a hilly town. You may be able to feel the worldview depicted in the movie "The Color of You." You can also enter the garden from the second gate at the top of Glover Garden from here.
1. The Glover Sky Road is made up of a diagonal and vertical elevator. It's a proper city road!
2. From inside the elevator, you can see the Nagasaki cityscape through the round window! It goes up the hill steadily.
3. It reaches this height in an instant. The houses look like miniatures.
4. Minamiyamate Rest House, built at the end of the Edo period. It is said to be one of the oldest Western-style buildings in Nagasaki.
5. The terrace of the rest house is made of stone and features stone and wooden pillars. It is a Western-style building with a Japanese-Western style.
6. The beautifully maintained front garden is a relaxing space where local residents can feel the seasons
7. In the background you can see the "vertical elevator" of Glover Sky Road, which serves as a means of transportation for city residents.
8. Oura Tenbo Park: A panoramic view of Nagasaki's everyday life with houses lined up all the way to the top of the hill
9. On your way back, try going down the stairs. The inclined elevator has a unique presence.
10. The inclined elevator leads to the second floor through an arc-shaped aerial corridor.
At the top of Glover Sky Road, you can enjoy pizza and coffee at the cafe Kobi-an, which has a great view.
