I also recommend taking a walk at night on a rainy day!

Have you ever thought that rainy days are not suitable for strolling? Nagasaki's slopes are beautiful on rainy days. If you visit on a rainy night, you will be amazed by the glittering world of street lights reflecting off the road surface. As an added bonus, you can enjoy the sound of rain flowing through the gutters, which is where the slope gets its name.

If you're walking, it's fun to walk on narrow roads where cars don't pass! Explore history on the quaint cobblestone streets of Dondonzaka

After a stroll through the exotic hilly town of Minamiyamate, head to Dondonzaka, located halfway up Glover Street. Old buildings, including the red-brick Maria Garden, line both sides of the narrow slope, and you can feel the history and culture of Nagasaki just by walking along the beautiful stone pavement. Although it is located close to Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral, it has a quiet and calm atmosphere, making it a great place to explore. Check out the ingenious gutters, which are U-shaped at the top of the slope, V-shaped in the middle, and rectangular at the bottom, to allow rainwater to make a "dondon" sound and flow smoothly. Like Ozone Kendou Street, this is also the model for the animated film "Kimi no Iro" directed by Naoko Yamada, which will be released on Friday, August 8th.

2. I also love the handwritten font that says "Dondonzaka"

3. Nagasaki Port and Mount Inasa spread out beyond the hill

4. The slope is surprisingly steep, so take your time and enjoy the walk.

5. There are many photogenic spots around the area, including red brick buildings and stone arches.

6. One of the highlights is watching the rainwater flowing through the gutters.
