China may seem far away, but it's close to home.
There are many Chinese restaurants in Nagasaki, and you can come into contact with Chinese culture on a daily basis. Of course, if you go to Shinchi Chinatown, you can explore it even more and make new discoveries. It has the image of being overflowing with tourists, but locals also enjoy themselves in everyday clothes.

The world of Chinese food culture unfolds in a small teahouse known only to those in the know
Among the many souvenir shops and Chinese restaurants lining Shinchi Chinatown, the name of the shop, Taian Yoko, can be hard to find as it is bustling with color. Furthermore, the entrance is up a flight of stairs at the back of the first floor store, which sells Chinese goods and food, so you will be delighted just to find it. Although it is a small teahouse with only about 1 seats, it is a hidden gem where you can enjoy lunch such as Chinese porridge sets, as well as Xiaolongbao, dumplings, craft tea (a type of flower tea), and Chinese sweets. We recommend this shop to anyone who wants to enjoy a little more leisurely time.

1. Just inside the north gate of Chinatown, this is a seemingly ordinary souvenir shop. They also sell soft serve ice cream on the first floor.

2. Go up the stairs at the back right of the souvenir shop.

3. The entrance does not face the street, so it has a relaxing, hidden-away atmosphere that only a few in the know will know about.

4. Lunch set includes dim sum, Chinese porridge, steamed vegetables with Tieguanyin tea, etc. Seasonal medicinal soup is also available.

5. Salty soy milk set. Enjoy the fried bread by dipping it in salty soy milk.

6. "Zhima Tangyuan" (black sesame dumplings in hot syrup)

7. Chinese sweets such as "turtle jelly," which is unfamiliar in Japan, are also popular.
