A hidden spot with the best view of Nagasaki Port

"The waiting area on the second floor of the Nagasaki Port Terminal Building is a hidden gem where you can leisurely watch the ships coming and going through the wide glass windows!"

It's only 20 minutes! If you take a boat, you'll be on a journey to your destination.

With the opening of the Iojima Bridge in 2011, Iojima can now be accessed by land from the center of Nagasaki city. However, we recommend going by boat. As soon as you board the boat at the Nagasaki Port Terminal Building and the boat starts moving, you will see the spectacular sight of Japan's first electric crane (still in use!), a giant cantilever crane, which has been designated a World Heritage Site, as well as the huge dock and buildings of the Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard. Passing under the beautiful Goddess Bridge, the sixth longest bridge in Japan, you will see the statue of Our Lady of the Cape on your right. It watches over the safety of the boat, and just behind it you can see a small torii gate, which was formerly the site of Ebisu Shrine. If you are going to Iojima, be sure to take a boat trip to enjoy a dazzling Nagasaki view trip. It takes 35 minutes to get to Takashima via Iojima!

1. Nagasaki Port Terminal

2. The waiting area on the second floor of the Nagasaki Port Terminal Building is a hidden gem with a great view. There are no crowds on weekdays, so you can relax.

3. The bus bound for Takashima via Iojima leaves from Pier 1 and 4 at Pier 6, so please be careful.

4. The high-speed ferry is faster than you can imagine

5. The ship drives on the right side of the road, so if you're going there, we recommend sitting by the window on the right side of the boat, which is closer to land.

6. Giant cantilever crane at Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard, completed in 1909

7. The Self-Defense Forces' escort ships are also anchored there for inspection.

8. If you're lucky, you may even see ships being inspected or constructed in the shipyard.

9. The beautiful Megami Bridge, the sixth longest bridge in Japan

10. Although it cannot be seen from the boat, there is also a statue of Ebisu next to the Virgin Mary.
