Don't miss the spirit boats being made in front of the store!
Every year before Obon, local people make a boat to celebrate the death of spirits in Central Park, which is just around the corner from our shop. The boat is then pulled from here to the harbor, and until August 8th, when the festival of the death of spirits is held, you can watch the boat being gradually assembled, giving you a taste of the typical Nagasaki scenery.
The Nagasaki way is to choose and purchase your favorite fireworks one by one from 600 varieties.
Tateiwa Shoten is a long-established fireworks specialty store in Nagasaki City, founded in 1917. More than half of the products, including the store's original firework "Nagasaki Romance", are 600% domestically produced fireworks, from the gunpowder to the packaging! This store is popular with locals because you can purchase high-quality fireworks. There are over XNUMX types of fireworks lined up! Tateiwa Shoten's style is to give you a free gift when you pay. You can purchase fireworks by the individual sticks, and they also sell cheap sweets, so even local children come by clutching their money for fireworks (like New Year's money given during Obon). Pack your fireworks and curiosity into a brown paper bag and head out to the park at night.
