-You lived in Nagasaki until you went to university in Tokyo, right?

My father is from Sasebo City and my mother is from Nagasaki City, so I was born and raised in Nagasaki City. I lived in Oebara, and attended St. Mary's Academy in the Shiroyama district in the northern part of the country from kindergarten to junior high school. If you are familiar with the city, you can imagine that my home was in an area rich in nature where I could enjoy a little mountain climbing, so on my days off, I was an active child who would run around in the fields and play. That's what I heard from my parents.

By the way, there were a lot of slopes around my house, so I never thought, ``I want to ride a bicycle!'' and I still can't get around to riding a bicycle. I wonder if there are people from Nagasaki. I'll leave it at that (lol)

-How did you go to school?

Every day, I would ride the school bus down the mountain to go to school, and then go back up the mountain after school. At the time, I didn't feel anything because it was so obvious, but looking back on it now, I realize that it was an experience unique to Nagasaki, the city of hills.

-What kind of memories do you have from your elementary school days?

There are many things, but my parents loved the outdoors, so in the summer,Nagasaki Prefectural Forest'' and go camping with your family, or take a ferry from Nagasaki Port to Hamagurihama Beach in Kamigoto and play in the white sand and blue shallow sea. It was an annual event for the Higashijima family. The emerald green sea was beautiful. If you drive from Nagasaki city, there are many beautiful beaches within a short distance. In Iojima and Nomozaki.Takahama Beach'', we also recommend it.

―Thank you for introducing me as a “PR ambassador.” Mr. Higashijima, it seems like you have a lot of memories with your family.

I lived in Nagasaki until high school, so it comes naturally to me (lol). When it comes to memories with my girlfriend's mother, I can't forget the taste of the sea cream we ate at the Japanese and Western confectionery shop "Baigetsudo" in Hamacho. When I was in elementary school, I would sometimes eat this cake with my girlfriend's mother on the way home from ballet class. It was a cake with custard cream sandwiched between sponge cakes, fresh cream squeezed on top, and yellow peaches and pineapples on top.

In terms of food, I've forgotten the taste of the one-bite gyoza at Unryutei that I went to eat with my family, the onigiri and oden at Kaniya, and the okonomiyaki I ate at Kifuneya. I can't do it. It was a daily routine for me to buy Momotaro pork buns at Amu Plaza Nagasaki on the way home from school and eat them around with friends.

-Your high school is Nagasaki Nishi High School, right?

While continuing to do ballet during high school, I also joined the broadcasting club at school. It was fun to do the school broadcast, and I even got to host school events. At that time, I didn't have any desire to become an announcer, I just joined the broadcast club because it was fun.
After school, we would go to ``Mirai Nagasaki Coco Walk,'' which had just opened at the time, and ``Nagasaki Mizubenomori Park” I went there.

-What are the highlights of Nagasaki that you would recommend to people from outside the prefecture?

I would like to recommend a “summer trip to Nagasaki.” I would like many people to experience the crisp atmosphere typical of Nagasaki. I myself have been enjoying summer in Nagasaki with my family since I was little, so I would be happy if people could enjoy their trip to Nagasaki from the perspective of playing outside. In summer in Nagasaki, the sun sets later than in Honshu, so you should be able to enjoy the scenery to its fullest until late in the evening.

If you're planning a trip during the Obon season, check out the festival held on August 8th every year.spirit sink” Please try it out. You'll be surprised as firecrackers go off all over the city.
This article was published in December, right? Without a doubt, Nagasaki in winter is also very beautiful. "Nagasaki Lantern Festival',I love too. Please enjoy street food and take-out food while walking around Nagasaki City, which is dyed in bright colors. Even on ``Sandwich Man The Radio Show Saturday'', where I am a partner on Nippon Broadcasting System, Mr. Sandwich Man praised Nagasaki's gourmet food as being the best!
