Nagasaki's summer tradition that colors Nagasaki Port

The Nagasaki Dragon Boat Race Championships is a fierce battle that unfolds on the stage of Nagasaki Port. It is a traditional Nagasaki event with over 360 years of history. Dragon boats are said to have been introduced to Nagasaki from China around 1655, and are known as the origin of boat racing in Japan. The bold and dynamic Dragon Boat Races are said to have been enjoyed by the people of Nagasaki as early as the Edo period. It continues to be passed down in Nagasaki today as an important event that deepens the bonds between adults and children while connecting with the sea.

■Date and time: Sunday, July 6, 7, 28:9-00:17, one-day event
■ Viewing: Free 
 *Free viewing tents will not be set up from the 800 tournament, so please watch from the top of the Matsugae International Terminal. A special viewing stand (8 yen) is also available for a fee. (Registration begins at 30:XNUMX on the day, first come first served, no assigned seats, no advance reservations)
■Venue: Nagasaki Port (Matsugaeda International Tourism Pier)
■ Participating teams: 22 teams (16 general teams, 6 workplace/junior high school teams)
■Race distance: Round trip 1,150m (outward 630m, return 520m)
■ Race format: General race, occupational race (including junior high school)
■ Experience Dragonflying: Two boats will be available during the lunch break (first 52 people, registration opens at 9:00 on the day, no advance reservations accepted)
 *Preschool children are not allowed to participate. Elementary school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
■TV broadcast: NBC Nagasaki Broadcasting, August 8th (Sun) 4:14-00:14 (recorded broadcast of the tournament)

Transportation access ・Take the tram (bound for Sofukuji) from Nagasaki Station for about 7 minutes, change at Shinchi Chinatown (bound for Ishibashi) for about 4 minutes, get off at "Oura Kaigandori" and walk for about 3 minutes.
