Nagasaki Lantern Festival Nagasaki Lantern Festival
The 2025 Nagasaki Lantern Festival ended on Wednesday, February 2025, 2.
The Nagasaki Lantern Festival dyes the winter night sky in brilliant colors. The city center will be illuminated with the magical light of approximately 15,000 lanterns (Chinese lanterns) and various objects at each venue. Originally started as a Spring Festival to celebrate the Chinese New Year, it has spread year by year and is now known as a winter tradition in Nagasaki.
One of the highlights of the festival is the ``Emperor Parade,'' in which flags and other troops wearing luxurious Chinese costumes march around the palanquins of the Emperor and Empress.
The lanterns come in a variety of limited colors depending on the venue, such as yellow around Megane Bridge and cute pink in Chinatown, so be sure to find your favorite spot. We also offer braised manju and Chinese sweets around Chinatown.
Many tourists visit from inside and outside the prefecture every year, and it is a popular event filled with the authentic Chinese atmosphere.
