Six Western-style buildings from the Meiji period that were scattered around the city have been relocated and restored, mainly the former Glover House, former Ringer House, and former Orto House, all of which are nationally designated important cultural properties.

① Dejima [●]
Dejima is an artificial island built by order of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
Completed in 1636, it has played a major role in the modernization of Japan as Japan's only window to Western Europe for about 200 years. After its role ended in the Meiji period, the area around Dejima was reclaimed and the original fan-shaped shape floating in the sea disappeared, but in 1951 Nagasaki City began restoration work on Dejima, and to date 16 buildings and scenery have been preserved. It has regained its original appearance. -
②Shinchi Chinatown
Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown is one of Japan's three major Chinatowns, along with Yokohama and Kobe.
It is a popular tourist spot with easy access, arriving in less than 10 minutes on the tram from JR Nagasaki Station. It was built by reclaiming land from the sea in the mid-Edo period to build a warehouse for trade goods from China.
Approximately 250 stores, including Chinese restaurants, Chinese sweets, and Chinese miscellaneous goods, are lined up along the crossroads, which is about 40 meters long from east to west and north to south. -
③Holland Hill
It is a stone-paved slope in the Higashi-Yamate district, which is lined with Western-style houses and has an exotic feel.
In Nagasaki, the only area of trade in Japan during the Edo period, non-Oriental people were still called "Dutch-san" even after the opening of the country, perhaps due to the influence of the Dutch living in Dejima. For this reason, it is thought that at that time all the slopes in foreign settlements were called Dutch slopes, meaning ``the slopes that Dutch people pass through''. -
④Higashiyamate Western-style housing group
A group of seven Western-style houses built on a steeply sloped, narrow staircase-like site up Dutch Hill, built into two levels, one above the other. These wooden Western-style buildings, built around the 2s, had simple designs and finishes both inside and out, and the structural materials were almost the same for each building, so it is assumed that they were purposefully constructed as company housing or rental housing.

⑤ Photo archives and buried archives [■]
Of the ``Higashiyamate Western-style housing group (seven buildings)'' designated by the city as a tangible cultural property, three buildings are used as an old photo museum and one building is used as a buried archive museum.

① Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture [●]
A unique hands-on museum that restores and exhibits the historic Nagasaki Magistrate's Office in the Edo period Nagasaki Suwa Forest.
-
②Meganebashi
Megane Bridge is said to have been built in 1634 (Kanei 11) by Zen master Mokusu Nyojo of Kofukuji Temple. It is said that it got its name from the double-circular shape of its shadow reflected on the river surface, which looks like glasses, and it is considered one of Japan's three famous bridges, along with Tokyo's Nihonbashi and Yamaguchi's Kintaikyo. Although it partially collapsed during the Nagasaki flood in 1982, it was restored the following year and has been designated as a national important cultural property.
-
③Sofukuji Temple
Sofuku-ji Temple, also known as Fuzhou-ji Temple, was founded in 1629 by the Tang monk Choran at the request of the Tang people from the Fuzhou region, and has three gates reminiscent of the Dragon Palace gate and the first peak gate, which is extremely unique and ingenious.
The Buddhist statues and utensils in the hall were all handmade by master Chinese craftsmen, and can be said to be a microcosm of the culture of the late Ming Dynasty.

□Request to travel agencies and schools
Since this is an outdoor activity that lasts approximately 2 hours, it is recommended as a measure against heat stroke during hot seasons (June to September, etc.).
If you run out of drinks in your water bottle, could you ask your students to bring the money and permission to purchase water or tea from the vending machine? It would be helpful if you could let us know about measures to prevent heat stroke, such as what to do if your water bottle runs out of drinks (for example, buying it at the hotel you're staying at and bringing it with you).
