Kyura Tenshin School Former Luodian Seminary
a National Important Cultural Property.
1873In 1875, upon the abolition of the Meiji government's ban on Christianity, Father Petitjean of Oura Church planned the establishment of the Rōten Seminary, which was completed in 1926. It was used as a school building and dormitory for the seminary until Urakami Seminary was built in 1930. Later, it was also used as a parsonage and a meeting hall, and around 1, the first floor partition (Majikiri) was added.The building was removed to create a larger room, and the third floor was remodeled and used as student bedrooms.
It was designed by the Frenchman Father de Rotz. The structure was unique, with a wooden frame and brick walls, but Father de Rotz had a deep knowledge of architectural technology, and the building he designed and supervised was extremely sturdy. Numerous buildings remain, including the parsonage of Oura Cathedral (currently the former Nagasaki archbishop's residence) and Shitsu Church in northern Nagasaki (Sotome).are doing.
