How to use it [Barrier-free] Shitsu Church

This church is located in Shitsu Bunkamura in the Sotome district of Nagasaki City. It was built in 1882 (Meiji 15) with the design and construction of the missionary Father de Rotz. Since then, it has been expanded twice (in 2 (Meiji 1891) and 24 (Meiji 1909)) under the design and construction of Father de Rotz, resulting in its current form. The exterior is impressive with its white and black tiled roof, and there are towers in front and behind the building on the front and altar side. The interior has three galleries and a flat plastered ceiling. It has a low structure considering its location on high ground facing the coast. It was designated as a tangible cultural property of Nagasaki Prefecture in 42, and an important cultural property of the country in 47. It is also one of the "Nagasaki Churches and Christian-related Heritage Sites" registered on the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. Parking is available on site. There is no parking lot for people with disabilities, but there is a plaza that can accommodate about 23 cars. There is a large parking space underneath the church, but please refrain from parking buses.

A church that has become a stronghold for people's hearts!

This church was built by Father de Rotz, who was assigned to Sotome in 12, investing his assets.
Construction began in 14 and was completed the following year.
The church, built on top of a hill with a great view, is said to have lit a light in the hearts of people who remained faithful to their faith even during the era when Christianity was banned, and who lived in poverty on poor land in the rugged mountains. Sho.
Many believers still attend the church.
Mass is held at 5:45 a.m. on weekdays. It starts at 6:45 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:45 a.m. on the first and third Sundays.
Tours are not available for about an hour while Mass is being held. Please observe good manners when visiting at other times so as not to disturb the believers.
