Grabberen [Barrier-free] Glover Garden

Inside Glover Garden, you can see many Western-style buildings that served as historical stages from the Edo period to the Meiji period. Among them, the ``Old Glover House'', Japan's oldest wooden Western-style building, the ``Old Ringer House'', a rare wood-framed stone building that harmonizes wood and stone, and the ``Old Orto House'', the largest stone Western-style house in Nagasaki, have been designated as important by the country. It has become a cultural property. Furthermore, the view from the small hill of Minami-Yamate overlooking Nagasaki Port is worth a visit. The park is fully equipped with a multipurpose restroom with an ostomate, a rest room, and a nursing room, and there is also free rental of electric wheelchairs for use within the park. Additionally, there are moving walkways and wheelchair ramps, but most of the sidewalks are cobblestone and have slopes throughout, so assistance is required to walk around the park in a wheelchair. From December 30 to October 12, the "Old Glover House" will be visited from a special observation deck due to preservation and repair work.

The photo shows the wheelchair ramp from the former Glover residence to the "moving walkway." You can go directly to near the second gate by connecting on the "moving walkway."
The walkways in the park are steep slopes and uneven cobblestones.

Recommended points for researchers

If you have difficulty walking, we recommend entering from the second gate! Volunteer guides are always stationed at the former Nagasaki High School Commercial Gate Gate, which is adjacent to the second gate, and there is also a free guide service within the park.

For those in wheelchairs, if you are entering from the direction of Gate 1, you will need to use the wheelchair-only passageway from the exit control building. There is a long distance to travel to the first facility to be visited, the Old Glover House, so you will have to go to the regular entrance to purchase tickets and receive discounts. We recommend entering through the second gate, where you can also purchase admission tickets. You can use the Glover Sky Road (free of charge) up to the second gate, or get on and off in front of the gate when using a taxi.
Please note that the park has many cobblestones and slopes, so we recommend that you transfer to the electric wheelchairs (free of charge) provided at each gate.
In addition, volunteer guides are stationed on the first floor of the former Mitsubishi No. 2 Dock House adjacent to Gate 2, and there is also a free guide service within the park.

Directions and Access	For entering the 2nd gate: From the tram/Nagasaki bus "Ishibashi" stop, go to the Glover Skyroad stop → Skyroad → Vertical elevator → Go to the 2nd gate　 When entering the first gate: Tram/Nagasaki bus get off at "Oura Cathedral Shita" → Glover Street → Oura Church → Go to the wheelchair-only entrance (*Glover Street has a slope, so please be careful if you are using a wheelchair. )
