Orandazaka [Barrier-free] Holland Hill

Dutch slope does not refer to a specific slope; all slopes in the settlement are Dutch slopes. The most famous one is this slope in front of the 13th building, where old Western-style buildings, stone pavements, stone walls, stone ditches, and brick walls remain, giving us a glimpse of the times. This place is often introduced in Nagasaki tourist magazines and pamphlets. Cars can enter the road at the bottom of the slope, and it is possible to get on and off the slope near Oranda Slope, but there is no parking lot. Stone chairs are set up in the rest area in the shade of the trees.

    From Higashi-Yamate to Minami-Yamate

This is the slope next to the Higashiyamate Western-style residential complex. The slope is quite steep, making it dangerous to move around in a wheelchair.

  • -1

If you enter the side street on the sea side halfway up the slope, you will see seven Western-style houses. Although it is possible to walk around in a wheelchair, the entrance to the facility has stairs and steps, making it difficult to enter.

  • Minamiyamate Dutch Hill-0

    Minami-Yamate Dutch Hill

The slope adjacent to Nagasaki ANA Glover Hill is a pedestrian-only road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are souvenir shops and restaurants on both sides, and it is always crowded with tourists. As you go up the hill, you will see Oura Cathedral. Climbing further up is Glover Garden. Wheelchair users can move downhill with assistance, but the uphill climbs are quite steep and place a heavy burden on the caregiver.
