Glasses [Barrier-free] Meganebashi

The oldest stone arch bridge in Japan and an important cultural property of the country. The stone arch bridge with a length of 22.35m, width of 4.68m, and total height of 5.23m is affectionately known as ``Megane Bridge'' because of its reflection on the river surface.Among the stone bridges in Nagasaki, it is the only real stone bridge that is not made of concrete. , this Megane Bridge, Tokei Bridge, and Fukuro Bridge are the only ones. Part of it collapsed during the Nagasaki Great Flood in 57, but it was restored the following year by collecting stones that had been washed away. Additionally, the sidewalks around Meganebashi Bridge are being made barrier-free, so you can enjoy walking around them in a wheelchair. This photo is the view from Uoichi Bridge.

Recommended points for researchers

Although it is difficult to cross Meganebashi Bridge due to the steps, the stone bridge downstream, Fukurobashi Bridge, can be crossed even in a wheelchair. However, since it is a stone bridge, the road is narrow and somewhat uneven. There is also vehicular traffic, so please be careful when walking. The "Uoichibashi Bridge" next to the public toilets upstream is flat and wide, with a sidewalk so you can enjoy the view at your leisure.
